Re-post: Carbonara by request

Ingredients:
  • 400 g spaghetti
  • 1/4 kl ground pork or 200 g/pk bacon strips
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed and minced
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 can sliced button mushrooms (preferably this one.)
  • 4 medium-sized eggs
  • 150 g grated cheese (that’s one pk of Eden cheese, I think.)
  • 150 ml all-purpose cream (two-thirds of this will do.)
  • a pinch of salt
  • a dash of pepper
  • parsley (optional)
  1. Cook pasta according to instructions then drain. Set aside
  2. Cook the bacon or ground pork until fat is extracted. Add garlic and salt.
  3. Break eggs in a bowl. Add cooked bacon or ground pork with garlic to the egg. Also add grated cheese, pepper, and more salt. Whisk until well-blended.
  4. Sautee onions and mushrooms in the pan with pork fat. Add in the mixture from step 3 and slowly stir in all purpose cream.
  5. Remove from heat.
  6. Assemble spaghetti on a plate, top with sauce, and garnish with parsley. :)
I wanted to make this post an attachment to How to Survive: Living On Your Own but I wasn’t able to modify the recipe to a five-day meal plan yet. I’ll get to that in a while. ;) So anywho, this is my version of Carbonara. Most recipes would call in Parmesan and to which, I’d agree. Parmesan blends faster than ordinary processed cheese but for the sake of the person I’m writing this for, I made the recipe cheaper than it already is. In this recipe, let your taste buds judge the output. :D
Enjoy.
